The mind that created The Book of Divergence
Matt Frequencies
Brings high energy beats to the floor and produces with intent to bring the crowd into an interactive journey.
He blends Drum and Bass with Happy Hardcore, Metal and Techno vibes, while keeping the memes flowing and the game references hot.
Matt Frequencies has a deep passion for musical genres, a fascination with the story power of video game music, and an enormous amount of respect and care for underground music. As a result, the Demoscene and Chiptune scenes are some of his favourite playgrounds.
After taking home a win on his stage at Your Shot with a powerful story set and a fistful of DOOM music, Matt Frequencies has performed at Questival, Anime Rave and Pokemon Rave, among other events, and has regularly hosted showings of his passion project, The Book of Divergence. Expect to hear lashings of those tales at any event he plays at!
Working through sudden disablement in 2020, Matt has made it his mission to make good on the years spent not doing music, by engaging warp 9.99 and kicking down doors all through the industry. The thing that fuels him? His pure acceptance of his nerd status. He is a nerd who plays nerd music for nerds.
The story behind the Book
Hi! Matt at the keyboard, I thought it would be nice to talk personally for a moment, because the Book of Divergence is very, VERY personal to me.
Each of the characters you’ll meet in the Book is a reflection of certain elements of my neurodivergent personality. I let them out, take control for a bit, have the limelight. As I started to get into the performing art space I realised I had certain aspects of my personality that would shine much stronger than others in different situations.

Masked Autistic Self
Father Mathew
Father Mathew is generally a reflection of my masked Autistic self, the one that I present to get by daily. He's all about order, but also a childish curiosity and wonder of the world. In psychological terms, I guess you'd call him the Superego.

Brother Seth
Brother Seth is my unhinged ADHD at its finest, a mania on tap that I generally keep restrained because although he's popular, he tends to cause me to shove my foot in my face by going too far with jokes and being a right pest. He's also the easiest to accidentally slip into when I get excited, so I guess, meet the Ego?

The Glitch
The Glitch is how I see my Autism internally, originally a demonic monster, barely controlled, needing to be secured. Make no mistake, he's still a monster, overload can bring out the worst in me - but I'm working to accept him more now. Working behind the scenes, he's the ID. He's got some stuff to work through.
More about GlitchI am them and they are me
Between the three, they represent me, the Creator. I pop out in the show from time to time, but prefer to let them drive – it’s their show, after all!
